2027 Annual Enrollment and HSA transfer consent period.
Deadline for current HSA investors to turn off automated transfers to investments (if enabled) and liquidate, or sell, investments. See "Take Action" tab on this website for further instructions.
Your prior and new 2027 HSA will be available to you as of January 1, 2027. Your first payroll contribution for January 2027 will be made to the new HSA. You can continue to use your existing HSA card to access your funds.
REMINDER: Please establish beneficiaries for your new 2027 HSA account. You will receive a reminder and instructions on how to do this in January 2027.
TEMPORARY BLACKOUT PERIOD
As part of the transition to the new HSA bank, there will be a temporary blackout period from January 8 through January 14, 2027. During this blackout period, your existing HSA balance (funds in your account before 2027) will be transferred to the new bank, and you will not be able to access those funds. If you need to spend your HSA dollars during the blackout period, you will only have access to your new 2027 HSA balance. Be sure to save receipts for qualified health expenses during this time to submit for reimbursement later in case your 2027 contributions are not enough to cover your health expenses.
Starting January 15, 2027, all of your HSA funds will be available in one place, including your transferred 2026 balance and your new 2027 contributions.
A one-time amount of $50 will be deposited into your new 2027 HSA in late January 2027.

I am enrolling in an HSA for the first time. What do I need to do?
Complete the 4 steps above during Annual Enrollment. Even though you do not have an existing balance, we do need to collect your response.
I have no existing HSA balance. Do I need to do anything related to the transfer?
No transfer action is needed if there is no existing Hilton HSA balance to move. Complete the normal steps required to open your 2027 HSA.
HSA Investments
What additional actions are required if I have HSA investments?
In addition to the 4 Annual Enrollment steps, you must turn off automatic transfers to HSA investments and liquidate all HSA investments by 4pm EST December 21, 2026. These steps are necessary to make your HSA consist only of cash, so that it can be transferred to the new custodial bank.
What does it mean to liquidate my investments?
Liquidating means selling your current HSA investments, so the proceeds return to the cash portion of your HSA before the transfer.
Why must I turn off automated transfers to HSA investments?
Turning off automatic transfers to HSA investments is required to prevent additional HSA funds from being moved into investments after you liquidate your holdings and before the transfer occurs.
Why must my investments be liquidated?
The current investments will not move directly to the new investment platform. The balance must be in cash for the transfer to occur as intended.
Can I invest again after the transfer?
Yes. After your funds have transferred and you have at least $1,000 in your new HSA, you may choose from the investment options offered through the new HSA investment experience.
Will my current investment elections transfer automatically?
No. After the transfer, you must choose how to invest through the new HSA investment experience.
What if I have a pending trade near the liquidation deadline?
The pending trade will be processed as long as the liquidation request is completed by 4 p.m. ET on December 21, 2026.
If You Do Not Consent to Transfer Your Existing HSA to the New Custodial Bank
Is consenting to transfer required?
No, but we recommend transferring for the best experience.
What if I do not consent to the transfer?
- You will have 2 separate debit cards: one for your new HSA account and one for your old HSA account.
- Your 2027 HSA contributions will begin in the new HSA account under the new custodial bank. You will use your existing debit card to access this account.
- Your prior HSA account becomes independently owned by you and not associated with Hilton. You’ll manage that account and pay any monthly administrative fees, and a new HSA debit card will be issued.
Can I transfer only part of my balance?
No, when you consent to transfer, your entire balance will be moved.
Can I transfer my old HSA later?
Yes, you can complete an independent transfer at any time using the WealthCare Saver Transfer In form found under Forms and Documents on the Smart-Choice Accounts portal. You will be responsible for the $25 account transfer and closure fee.
Timing, Blackout, and Account Access
When will my new HSA open?
Your new HSA opens January 1, 2027.
What is the HSA transfer blackout period?
The transfer blackout period is January 8 through January 14, 2027. During this period, the funds being transferred from your prior HSA will be temporarily unavailable.
When will my transferred balance be available?
Your prior HSA balance is expected to be available in your WealthCare Saver HSA on January 15, 2027.
Can I use my debit card during the blackout period?
Any new 2027 HSA contributions will be available on your Smart-Choice Accounts debit card.
What if the transferred amount is different from what I expected?
Review your account activity and contact customer service if the transferred amount does not match your records.
Fees and Investment Experience
How are investment fees changing?
Investment fees will change from a flat $2.50 monthly fee to a balance-based fee structure ranging from approximately $0.99 to $10 per month, depending on investment selections. Full details on investment fees can be found in the Terms & Conditions.
What investment choices will be available?
The expanded HSA investment platform offers three investment paths, so team members can choose the level of support and flexibility that best fits their investing experience

You can change your investment path later if another option better fits your needs.
Can I trade through the website and mobile app?
The new investment experience will support real-time trades through the website and the mobile app.
Will trading hours change?

Real-Life Scenarios
Scenario: I have an HSA cash balance only and no investments.
During Annual Enrollment, complete the applicable plan election and contribution steps, accept the Terms & Conditions, and consent to transfer your prior HSA balance. No additional investment action is expected.
Scenario: I have both cash and HSA investments.
Complete all applicable Annual Enrollment and transfer-consent steps. Then turn off automatic investing and liquidate all investments by December 21, 2026. Both your cash balance and the cash proceeds from liquidation can then transfer as intended.
Scenario: I consented to transfer but forgot to liquidate my investments.
If investments remain after December 21, 2026, the transfer will not occur as intended. Your prior HSA, including the investments, becomes independently owned by you, you will be responsible for ongoing fees, and you will not receive the $50 transfer contribution.
Scenario: I liquidated my investments but forgot to turn off automatic investing.
Automatic investment activity could move money back into investments and interfere with the transfer. If the deadline has not passed, turn off automatic investing and verify that no investment balance remains. If the deadline has passed, you will not be able to transfer your HSA.
Scenario: I completed every required action. What happens next?
Your new HSA opens January 1, 2027. Your transferred funds are temporarily unavailable January 8–14, become available January 15, and the $50 contribution is expected by January 31 if you are eligible.
Scenario: I do not want to transfer my current HSA.
Do not consent to the transfer. If a new Hilton HSA is opened, your prior HSA remains separate and independently owned by you. You will be responsible for applicable fees and will not receive the $50 transfer contribution.
Scenario: My current HSA balance is $0.
You can complete the normal steps to open a 2027 HSA if you enroll and remain eligible. You will not be eligible for the $50 HSA contribution.
Scenario: I need to pay a qualified expense during the January blackout.
Your prior HSA funds will be unavailable from January 8 through January 14. Plan ahead for expenses during this period. You may pay an expense using another method and request to be reimbursed when the funds are transferred on the Smart-Choice Accounts Portal.
Scenario: I am enrolling in an HSA for the first time.
Complete the normal Annual Enrollment steps to open your HSA. Because you do not have an existing Hilton HSA balance, no transfer consent or investment liquidation is required.
Scenario: I already used some of my HSA funds in 2026.
Qualified withdrawals made before the transfer do not prevent the remaining balance from transferring. The amount transferred will reflect the balance remaining when the transfer is processed.
Scenario: I plan to retire or leave Hilton after Annual Enrollment.
Your account will become independently managed by you when you retire or leave Hilton. You will be responsible for any ongoing account management fees and will receive a new debit card and welcome letter.
Scenario: My investments are partially liquidated and partially invested.
All HSA investments must be liquidated by December 21, 2026. Any remaining investment balance may prevent the transfer from occurring as intended.
Scenario: I have beneficiaries on my current HSA.
The beneficiary information on file will not be transferred. You will have to add your beneficiaries again to your new HSA on January 1, 2027.
